Twilight Beat (Part I)
The Duelist’s Codex is and will continue to concentrate primarily on
rulings and game mechanics. However, due to popular demands, here’s a
long belated post of a personal deck of mine: Twilight Beat. Also joking
known as AKB (AKira Beat) by Bahamut.
More commonly known as Light and Darkness Beat (光闇ビート) in the OCG and
Chaos Beat in the TCG, Twilight Beat is simply based on the concept of
abusing the semi-restricted Chaos Sorcerer.
Before going further, here’s the decklist:
Twilight Beat
Monsters (22)
1 Gorz the Emissary of Darkness
1 Dark Armed Dragon
2 Chaos Sorcerer
3 Blackwing – Shura the Blue Flame
3 Blackwing – Kalut the Moon Shadow
1 Blackwing – Gale the Whirlwind
1 Blackwing – Blizzard the Far North
1 Sangan
1 Cyber Dragon
3 Thunder King Rai-Oh
2 Paladin of the Cursed Dragon
3 Honest
Spells (9)
1 Heavy Storm
1 Mystical Space Typhoon
1 Brain Control
1 Smashing Ground
2 Allure of Darkness
3 Book of Moon
Traps (9)
1 Mirror Force
1 Torrential Tribute
1 Call of the Haunted
1 Trap Dustshoot
2 Bottomless Trap Hole
3 Icarus Attack
Extra Deck (15)
1 Chimeratech Fortress Dragon
1 Ally of Justice Catastor
1 Magical Andriod
1 Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
1 Goyo Guardian
1 Blackwing Armed Wing
1 Blackwing Armor Master
1 Tempest Magician
1 Arcanite Magician
1 Black Rose Dragon
1 Stardust Dragon
1 Dark End Dragon
1 Thought Ruler Archfiend
1 Colossal Fighter
1 Mist Wurm
Side Deck (15)
2 D.D. Crow
2 Lightning Vortex
2 Mind Crush
3 Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror
3 Light-Imprisoning Mirror
3 Mirror of Oaths
The main focus of the deck would be the inclusion of both Honest and Blackwing – Kalut the Moon Shadow
into the deck. Playing both in the same deck makes it hard for opponent
to declare an attack on your monsters, for he will be unable to figure
out whether it was Honest or Kalut that you actually have in your hand.
Having Blackwing monsters also provided the deck with ability to run Icarus Attack, a convenient trap to remove troublesome cards like Dimensional Fissure and Macro Cosmos (both prevents Honest and Kalut from activating).
In addition, Honest and Kalut are unaffected by Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror and Light-Imprisoning Mirror; both are excellent side decking choices against Undead Synchro/Vayu Blackwing and Lightsworn respectively. The Mirror of Oaths
are for matches against Gladiator Beast. At that point of time, the 3
different mirrors were sufficient to shutdown most top tier decks.
