My Favorite Gold Series 4 Cards!
For the fourth consecutive summer, a new Gold Series has been released. Like the Gold Series sets before it, Gold Series 4: Pyramids Edition
reprints some hard-to-find cards, while making other popular cards
available as Gold Rare foils. (It’s also got some pretty cool game
mats!)
As an avid Gladiator Beast fan, choosing my favorite card in the new Gold Series was a breeze. Gladiator Beast Gyzarus is the star player on the Gladiator Beast team. Now, its Gold Rare status helps to reflect that.
Gyzarus has bailed me out of tons of sticky situations. Since Gyzarus can destroy any 2 cards when it’s Summoned, its power can always turn a Duel around. Gladiator Beast Gyzarus
has gotten me to the top of lots of big tournaments over the past few
years, including a World Championship Qualifier and some of the
old-style YCS events, where I won 2 Doomcaliber Knight Prize Cards.
Like Gladiator Beast Gyzarus, Doomcaliber Knight
will always be a special card to me. It was the first Championship
Prize Card I’ve ever owned, and I’ve never been prouder to hold a card.
Its scarcity, value, and power made Doomcaliber Knight legendary, and I was one of the few Duelists lucky enough to own it.
Even after its reprint in Turbo Pack: Booster One, Doomcaliber Knight was still a tough card to find. But now that it has been reprinted in Gold Series 4: Pyramids Edition, Doomcaliber Knight will be accessible to lots more Duelists.
Doomcaliber Knight is a cool card with chivalric power, but there may be no monster more awesome than the mighty Obelisk the Tormentor! This omnipotent Egyptian God has finally been given the treasures it deserves, with its newest Gold Rare form.
Obelisk the Tormentor was the first Egyptian God
Card that could be used in a Duel, and has been played competitively in
lots of Frog Monarch Decks in the past. But no Monarch can match the
power of an Egyptian god! I’ve witnessed this God Card tear through
lines of defenses that included Solemn Judgment and Dimensional Prison. I’ve seen it storm the field and swiftly eliminate opposing Duelists. This incredible power makes Obelisk the Tormentor one of my favorite cards in the newest Gold Series.
Obelisk the Tormentor isn’t the only monster that makes Duelists tremble when it hits the field. Black Luster Soldier – Envoy of the Beginning
escaped Forbidden status on the earliest Forbidden & Limited Lists,
and reigned as the most powerful monster in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD
GAME for quite some time. It has been one of my favorite monsters ever
since I used it in my earliest Chaos Deck after the release of Invasion of Chaos. Now, as a result of its Gold Rare presence in Gold Series 4: Pyramids Edition, Duelists are reminded of its might, even while it retains its Forbidden status.
